I Am Lucas
Book Two of The Quiet Bloom Cycle
The quietest lives leave the deepest marks.
The origin story of the quiet man who became a Gardener - told through decades of loss, friendship, and resilience.
I Am Lucas
In 1980s Britain, Lucas Wilton learns what it means to live on the margins.
At eleven, a quiet boy in a new school, he is marked out by difference and left to navigate the brutal weight of invisibility. What begins as silence becomes survival, a habit that shapes the man he will become.
From boyhood corridors to adulthood offices, Lucas slips between identities - sometimes overlooked, sometimes feared, sometimes briefly admired - but always carrying the ache of never quite belonging. When he finally discovers an unexpected love, it offers him the first fragile sense of home he has ever known. Yet even tenderness cannot silence the ghostly detachment that shadows him.
As his carefully built world unravels - through heartbreak, loss, and the slow erosion of certainty - Lucas is forced to confront the question he has avoided his whole life: who is he, when no one is watching?
Spanning three decades, I Am Lucas is a tender and unflinching portrait of isolation, endurance, and the fragile hope of being seen.
The haunting prequel to Let The Petals Fall, this novel reveals the story of the man whose quiet presence shaped everything.
